Fort Rock Homeschool Community

Where education
meets adventure.

Bring your co-op, your curriculum and your kids. Fort Rock brings a private classroom, food on bigger days, and the climbing wall and indoor playground for the part of the day they look forward to.

Most co-ops already teach their own curriculum. What they are short of is a place to do it: a room big enough, somewhere to burn off energy afterward, and a host who is glad to see them every week. That is what this program is.

A typical day is at least two hours of classroom time with your own lessons, then an hour or two in the climbing center or the indoor playground with Fort Rock staff running it.

It works for a full co-op or a single family. A parent with one child or several can book a room too.

01

Three private rooms

Two large rooms that hold up to 30 students each, and a smaller room for up to 15.

02

Your week, your rhythm

Co-ops meeting three days a week use Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Groups meeting twice a week use Tuesday and Thursday.

03

Food on 10-student days

Fort Rock provides food on any day your group has at least ten students. Smaller groups are welcome whenever a room is open.

What it costs

Paid with
PEP funds.

The program is listed under tuition on Fort Rock’s Step Up For Students provider listing, so families can pay from their student’s Personalized Education Program account.

$90 per student for a three-hour day, or $120 for a four-hour day. The listing shows $30 an hour; the program starts at three hours.

A co-op leader can book the room for the group, and each family pays for its own student through EMA. How to do that is right below.

Families not using a scholarship are welcome at the same rate.

Paying with PEP

Four steps,
start to finish.

01

Find us in EMA

Sign in to your Step Up EMA account, open Find Providers and search for BBN Property Management LLC. That is the company on our listing, and it shows as Fort Rock Climbing Center & Kids Adventure.

02

Pick the service

Choose what you are booking: Open Play, a homeschool class, or the Fort Rock Homeschool Community classroom program, which is listed under tuition.

03

Fund the account

Make sure your student’s PEP account has funds for the week you are booking. Your scholarship funding organization approves each purchase.

04

Send it to Fort Rock

Send the payment to Fort Rock through EMA and keep your receipt. Stuck on any step? Call (239) 990-7430 and we will walk you through it.

Before you come

Quick
answers.

Anything else, just call. We would rather talk it through than have you guess.

Ask the team
Who runs the climbing and playground time?

Fort Rock staff. The indoor playground is staffed from 9am to 5pm and the climbing side from 11am to 10pm. If your group wants the classroom on the climbing side before 11am, we will make that work.

Do we have to use your curriculum?

No. You teach what you already teach. Fort Rock provides the room, the food on ten-student days, and the active part of the day.

Can one family join, or only full co-ops?

Either. A co-op leader can book for the whole group, and a parent with one child or several can book a room too.

What ages does it suit?

Any school-age student. The kids’ gym in the playground suits roughly ages 5 to 8, and the climbing walls work from about 9 through the teens.

What do we need before the first day?

A completed waiver for every student, which is quicker to do online than at the desk, and non-slip socks for the playground. Climbing shoes and harnesses are here.
