Scout troops in Fort Myers

A troop outing
with a summit.

Climbing is a natural fit for a troop. It builds confidence, teaches safety and trust, and gives every scout a moment of doing something they did not think they could.

Fort Rock welcomes Scouts and Girl Scouts troops for climbing outings. Our staff handle the orientation, the harnesses and the shoes, so leaders can focus on the scouts.

If your troop is working toward a climbing badge, bring your registered counselor and tell us which requirements you are hoping to cover. Badges are signed off by your counselor, and we will plan the session time with you.

Mixed ages work well too. The climbing walls suit school-age scouts through adults, and younger siblings can use the indoor playground on the other side of the building.

01

Staff-run sessions

Our team teaches the fundamentals, fits the gear and runs the walls for your group.

02

Safety first

Every climber gets an orientation, and the auto-belay walls catch and lower a climber automatically.

03

Leaders climb too

Adults are welcome on the walls alongside their scouts.

What it costs

One price
per climber.

$25 per climber per hour, with a 10-climber minimum. A group session normally runs two hours, and staff instruction, harnesses and climbing shoes are included.

Climbers under 14 need an adult with them, so plan your leader numbers with that in mind. Group bouldering is for climbers 14 and over.

The climbing center is open Monday to Thursday 11am to 9pm, Friday 11am to 10pm, Saturday 9am to 10pm and Sunday 9am to 6pm.

How booking works

Three steps
to troop day.

01

Send us the basics

Your group’s name, a contact, how many are coming, their ages and the date you have in mind. You will get a straight answer and a quote.

02

Waivers before the day

Every climber needs a waiver, signed by a parent or guardian for anyone under 18. Doing them online beforehand keeps check-in quick.

03

Arrive 15 minutes early

That covers check-in and gear. Staff then run one orientation for the whole group before anyone goes up.

Before you come

Quick
answers.

Anything else, just call. We would rather talk it through than have you guess.

Ask the team
Can our scouts earn a climbing badge here?

Your troop’s registered counselor signs off the badge. Tell us which requirements you are working on when you book, and we will plan the session with you.

What ages can climb?

There is no fixed age limit. It depends on the climber. Anyone under 14 needs an adult with them.

Do parents and leaders need waivers?

Yes. Everyone who climbs needs a waiver, and scouts under 18 need one signed by a parent or guardian.

Can we come on a weekday evening?

Yes. The climbing center is open until 9pm Monday to Thursday, which suits a regular troop meeting night.
